$12.00 - $30.00 hourly
IMPORTANT!!! When inquiring for this position, you must provide a resume. It does not have to be fancy. It does not have to be a document, you can just write it in your email. You must include start/end dates and reason for leaving all your previous jobs. List professional references , your mommy and daddy do not count. List any experience you have using mechanical or construction related hand tools and power tools including hobbies or DIY. If you do not list mechanical/construction/fabrication HANDS ON experience, your application will be rejected. Using a spatula to flip burgers is not mechanical experience. There is much more to this job than manual labor. We work on very technical and very expensive equipment. If you can't follow the instructions in this paragraph then I certainly cannot trust you to work on a $30,000 high speed door. You're resume will be rejected and you will not considered.
Our mission is to be the most professional, reputable, and reliable company in the market. We have never had a BBB complaint. We win the Angie's List Super Service Award every year. We are one of only two IDEA Accredited door companies in Charlotte and are owned and operated by an IDEA certified Automated Access Systems Master Technician. If you take pride in your work and believe in doing things right the first time, every time, and want to be looked at as the best in the business, this is the place for you.
One of my goals from the start was/is to build the kind of company that employees want to retire from, not just an in-between job to get by for now. This is a full time employee/W2 position. We do not sub contract.
This is not a sales position although sales are involved.
This is not a management position although there will be room for advancement in the future.
When responding please give me the earliest time I can call. If you don't tell me how early I can call, don't complain when I call you at 6:00am. Often the only time I have is early in the morning. I will then have you do one or more paid ride-a-longs so we can evaluate your skills, both mechanical and professional. This also gives you a chance to see what the job is like. If you show promise, you will be put into full time OTJ training.
What you get:
*Paid Training in a growing and rewarding trade.
*A good company to work for who takes care of it's employees.
*Personal Protective Equipment.
*Once you are able to start working on your own you will get...
*A company truck that you will take home.
*Company Phone & Tablet
*Uniform including pants & shirts.
What it pays:
To my knowledge, no other door company in this market pays as well. However, with great pay comes an expectation of great performance. During training (3-6 months depending on how fast you learn) You should make $400-$700 per week depending on your skill level. You should make at least $35-40k your first 12 months with no experience. You will see regular raises as you learn. If you're fast, do good work, and don't get call backs, you should make at least $50-60k by your second year. If you can sell, you can make much more.
*Rip-Off Artists WILL NOT be tolerated. We do honest work for honest rates.
What you need:
* A place to park a 3/4-1 ton service body truck. Check with your HOA or Apartment Manager.
* Ability to represent yourself and the company as a professional.
* You will run into equipment you are unfamiliar with. You must have good mechanical and electrical problem solving skills.
* Ability to eyeball gaps, reveals, straight lines, and alignments.
* Ability and willingness to learn.
* Clean criminal background. I will run a criminal background check. Anything related to violence or theft will disqualify you.
* Clean driving record and valid driver's license with your current address.
*Must be drug free. If you have a serious injury or have an accident in the company truck, you will be immediately drug tested. I also may test you randomly if I suspect you are getting high. This is not a moral issue, it is a safety issue. Lack of focus or coordination can cost you; and those around you; body parts or your life.
*Self motivation to work unsupervised. You will be alone much of the time.
*Personal Responsibility. You will be responsible for a company vehicle and all tools and equipment in your possession. You will need a safe place to park a company truck.
*Willingness to work from a 12' a-frame, 30' extension ladder, scissor and boom lifts.
*Availability to work Mon - Sat (not every Sat) and occasionally be on call for Emergency Service (double time) on some nights and Sundays.
*Steel Toe Boots. You provide the first pair, I will replace them when they are worn out.
The bad parts:
*Most days you won't know exactly what time you're getting home. You go home after the last service call or install is done. Most days will be 8-9 hours. However, if you need an early day or a late start, I can accommodate you if given enough notice.
*You will be dealing directly with customers.
*You will need to answer phones on occasion. The only way I can get time off is to fwd. the phone to an employee. You will get paid extra for this.
*This job can be dangerous, if you're clumsy or careless, do not apply.
