Job Description

We are seeking a Commercial Garage Door Estimator to research projects, create bid information by analyzing the specifications and drawing or through direct customer contact, work with other team members involved in the Commercial/Industrial door department. Projects may involve working with various industries, engineers, technicians, architects, designers, site managers and vendors to facilitate and correlate the installation and service of garage doors and associated products to customers safely and efficiently while reflecting the quality and service for which Northwest Door is known.

Essential Duties:

  • Read and understand architectural drawings and specifications as it pertains to commercial/Industrial doors and operators.
  • Create bid sheets that provide information to estimate price information to required party.
  • Create project files, purchase material, setup schedules, and create approval drawings using our custom drawing templates.
  • Ensure the project is progressing as scheduled. Communicate periodic status reports to all parties.
  • Meet with contractors and architects to review schedules and activities periodically to ensure deadlines are met including additional re-site checks prior to installation to ensure job site is safe and ready for installation crews. Monitor and provide direction when needed.
  • Conduct site inspections including additional re-site checks prior to installation to ensure job site is safe and ready for installation crews. Monitor and provide direction when needed.
  • Attend necessary meetings as requested by site supervisors.
  • Coordinate the installers on each project and anticipate problem solving to ensure job is completed and on schedule.
  • Coordinate with the scheduling, purchasing and customer service to ensure proper materials and lift equipment is ordered and delivered timely to safely complete the job. Monitor and provide direction when needed.
  • Coordinate with suppliers on job-site deliveries.
  • Inspect and resolve any warranty issues to include on site repairing if needed.
  • Coordinate with suppliers on warranty issues for prompt resolution.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Requirements: Any combination of education and required skills and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of garage door industry experience
  • Three years of experience estimating projects
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Proof of vehicle insurance with safe driving record and history
  • Proficiency in MS Office

Knowledge: Basic mechanical knowledge as it relates to commercial/industrial doors; product warranties and warranty resolutions

Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to define problems, deal with complaints, diplomacy, effective listening, following instructions, problem solving; self-motivated; good time management; excellent customer service skills; proficiently operate a computer and navigate MS Office software.

Abilities: Read and follow architectural drawings and specifications; work under pressure, multi- task, communicate with people and to meet deadlines; be a team player; lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation.
