Supply Chain Manager
The Supply Chain Manager is required to manage wide-ranging aspects of the operations, such as production scheduling, purchasing, receiving, materials handling, warehousing of raw materials, and finished product distribution.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Implement a fully functional supply chain management organization to include production scheduling, purchasing, receiving, materials handling, warehousing of raw materials, and finished product distribution.
• Manage activities related to the strategic or tactical purchasing of commodities, including steel, material requirements planning, controlling inventory, warehousing, or receiving.
• Selects, develops, and evaluates teams to ensure efficient operation of the functions and provide positive and negative feedback to employees verbally and in writing. Documents feedback through Confirmation of Conversations. Conducts or participates in annual performance reviews for employees.
• Develops supply chain budget, reviews monthly expenditures to ensure budgeted targets are met, and initiates cost reduction programs.
• Achieves financial objectives by working with the management group to prepare the materials budget, schedule expenditures, analyze variances and initiate corrective actions.
• Responsible for inventory management, including the inventory, turns metric, and inventory accuracy, in conjunction with the inventory control function. Identifies opportunities for inventory reduction and recommends the disposition of excess and obsolete inventory.
• Establishes and implements standard operating procedures (SOPs) based on best practices related to the systems, processes, and metrics for the functions.
• Primary owner for customer on time and in full (OTIF) metric, enabling best-in-class OTIF by establishing and monitoring raw material replenishment and finished goods distribution strategies.
• Represents the Supply Chain function within the Sales and Operations Planning process (S&OP).
• Identifies and onboard new suppliers as required to ensure continuity of supply.
• Responsible for supply agreement terms, including price, lead time, and payment terms.
• Manages effective relationships with existing suppliers of goods and services to meet the established cost, quality, and delivery targets.
• Responsible for the accuracy of inventory counts by implementing and managing, in conjunction with material handling, an inventory transaction system capable of identifying discrepancies in inventory counts and taking corrective action to guard against inconsistencies in the future.
• Adhere to established company policies, procedures, terms and conditions, and legal matters that affect purchasing policies.
• Participates as a member of the operations team in making cross-functional operational decisions.
• Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by implementing and aligning company policies that adhere to local, state, and federal environmental, health and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Process Engineering, and Quality to achieve operation plan targets.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
• BA/BS degree in business, supply chain, management, or other related disciplines. A Master’s in a related field is a plus.
• At least five years of experience in supply chain management within a manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge and understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment.
• Candidates with international purchasing experience will be given preference.
• Candidates with inventory control experience will be given preference.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and report writing skills.
• Experience in total quality, six-sigma, or other similar environments preferred.
